What should a family look for when researching a primary care physician or pediatrician? I think a family should look primarily for a provider that listens and seems to be paying attention. You should look for somebody who’s credentialed, who’s been board certified in their specialty. And you should look for somebody who’s in good standing with their medical board.
And between those things I think, you know, you usually find somebody who’s a well qualified professional. And then at the end of the day trust your gut, you know, see if this is somebody you feel comfortable talking with and an office that you feel is responsive when you need something. A physician is certified by the medical board of their specialty after showing that they’ve completed specialty training and have passed a comprehensive board examination. And then show that they are maintaining their learning throughout their career. A pediatrician can be a primary care physician a primary care doctor is one that you would go see first primarily. That’s how you get that name and that’s the person that you would see first for your normal complaints.
A pediatrician is a primary care physician who is specialized in the care of infants, children, and adolescents.
